ABODA Victoria and Yamaha Music Australia present

DIGITAL DRINKS

TUESDAY 13 OCT, 7PM

CREATION AFTER GRADUATION

ABODA Victoria cordially invites you to join us at our next Digital Drinks. This

is a panel discussion with four community music representatives sharing

their thoughts, experiences and recommendations for how teachers can

help music students engage with community ensembles. We all want our

students to continue making music for life, even if they don’t make music for

a living! Our panelists come from a range of backgrounds, bringing a wealth

of knowledge and varied perspectives.

THE PANEL

Megan Stapleton President, Victorian Bands’ League

Jenny Going Musical Director, Essendon Symphony

Andrew van Gemert Musical Director, Manningham Concert Band

Chloe Polglaze President, Monash University Philharmonic Society

Each member of the panel will talk about their experience with community

music-making and how student musicians fit into that space. The goal

is to create a larger discussion around how we can help school students

continue their engagement with music, rather than putting their instrument

in the closet after graduation. We know there are many ABODA members

and friends who feel passionately about this issue and have successfully

connected students with community music groups, so the floor will then be

open for everyone to ask questions and share their stories about what has

worked well for them or what they’ve found challenging.
