ABODA Victoria 2022 Summer Conducting School

We are proud to officially launch our 2022 Summer Conducting School after last year’s hiatus.

The Summer Conducting School will be held 16 – 22 January, 2022 at Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School in Essendon, and all members are invited to become participants in the event.

With lead clinician Dr Nicholas Williams (Melbourne Conservatorium of Music), clinicians Ms Amy Wert and Dr Andrew Mathers, the school is our flagship, week-long professional development event aimed at conductors of all levels and experience.

Summer Conducting School will be an exciting week of music making, learning and connection with colleagues from Victoria and around the country.

Registration Types and Pricing

Full Conductor Registration gives participants access to all lectures and tutorials, course notes, study scores, large ensemble conducting podium time, one-to-one video review sessions, small group conducting sessions, lunches and morning/afternoon teas.

Observer Registration gives participants access to all lectures and tutorials, course notes, study scores, small group sessions, lunches and morning/afternoon teas.

The Summer Conducting School will abide by all current Victorian Government regulations including QR Code check-in on arrival, appropriate distancing, and all participants being fully vaccinated against COVID-19. 9.00am – 5.30pm all days except Wednesday 19 January (designated rest day, no classes)
Course participant dinner on Friday 21 January (optional) at local venue (TBC)

Community Players
As always, we welcome the participation of the wider community to join and play in the Summer School Ensemble for afternoon practical conducting sessions. More details out soon, but registration will be essential.

Players are needed for:

Monday 17 January: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Tuesday 18 January: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Thursday 20 January: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Friday 21 January: 2.30pm – 5.30pm
Saturday 22 January: 11.00am – 4.00pm

Cancellation Policy

Participants can receive a full refund if cancellation is notified in writing to ABODA Victoria before 7 January 2022. Participants are eligible for a 50% refund if cancellation is notified in writing to ABODA Victoria after 7 January 2022. Cancellations received from 16 January are ineligible for a refund. If a cancellation because of needing to isolate, being a close contact, or needing to get tested for COVID-19 is notified in writing to ABODA Victoria, the participant is eligible for a full refund before 16 January, or pro-rata refund if this occurs during the event.
